I teach Sunday School to 2 & 3 year olds.
I teach AWANA to Cubbies, 3-4-5 year olds.
Occasionally I wonder if it makes any difference. Are they picking anything up at all?
I adore these little sweet peas, but is God accomplishing anything more through me than simply corraling them for an hour or two? We tell them about Jesus and God, but do they remember?
Yes. They do.
I met the big sister of one of my "non-church" Cubbies the other night. She's a bit of a rebel teen, a.k.a. NORMAL. I asked her if she was K's sister, and told her I taught him in Cubbies and that I just loved him. She told me that yes, that is her little brother. "He loves Cubbies. Its his favorite thing. He talks about it non-stop and is waiting for the summer break to be over."
"The other day, in the car, my mom said she was allergic to something. K spoke up from the back seat and said.... I'm not allergic to anything! And that's okay, because that is exactly how God made me."
Once, when she (big sister) was sick, K told his mom "She will get better. I will pray for her."
Without Cubbies, K wouldn't know about prayer. K wouldn't know that God created him EXACTLY as He wanted to. K wouldn't know that God created him to need those adorable glasses.
I don't know how little K will grow up. But, I do know that seeds have been planted, and God has given me the gift of being able to see that some have fallen on good ground. May they take root and GROW! GROW! GROW!

on good ground: DOOR
Two posts in one day, wow, you'd think I would have more important things to do with my time.
This is too good, I had to share. Maybe it won't mean anything to you, but God gave it to me today, similar to Dana's 4 leaf 'promise' clover recently.
As I was cleaning out my home office, I found a whole notebook full of sermon notes from the Bible Conference 2007. This message from Pastor Doug Fisher jumped off the page and smacked me in the face, I was blessed. Again, sorry for the disconnected notes, I get so engrossed during church sometimes I forget to take good notes. Kristy and I really enjoy Pastor Fisher's messages, they run very deep and get right to your heart.

"DOOR"
Duet. 29:2 And Moses called unto all Israel, and said unto them, Ye have seen all that the LORD did before your eyes in the land of Egypt unto Pharaoh, and unto all his servants, and unto all his land;
Deu 29:3 The great temptations which thine eyes have seen, the signs, and those great miracles:
Deu 29:4 Yet the LORD hath not given you an heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day.
Acts 14:27 And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.
Acts 10:10- (Peter and the sheet of animals let down from heaven)
About Doors:
Doors that didn't look like doors in the Bible:
Ask God for a heart to perceive what's going on in your life.

I needed this, I'm so glad God hid it in one of my junk piles for me to find today.

About Doors:
- The big doors get more people involved.
- You won't understand right away.
- Don't marry a guy that has it all figured out. That puts a lid on your goals.
- Doubt is okay.
Doors that didn't look like doors in the Bible:
- Saul looking for lost donkeys, it led to the throne
- Joseph in the pit, saved a nation from starvation
- David taking food to his brothers, ended up killing a giant, hailed a hero
Ask God for a heart to perceive what's going on in your life.

...on good ground: Brokenness
I was going through old sermon notes in my Bible case the other day. This is one that particularly fell on good ground in my life. Pastor Sowell preached it during the conference in '08. I have watched its truth unfold in my life many times since then. These notes of mine are a little incomplete... I have a habit of trailing off mid-sentence. There's just a few points I had written down. Psalm 46:1-3
......................................................................
Brokenness.
Matthew 14:15-19
For the miraculous things to happen through you - God will break you first.
God breaks as naturally as he blesses. It was the act of breaking the pitchers that won the battle for Gideon.
Tenderness always reduces the severity.
Through the breaking process, God takes you through the transition from nominal to miraculous.
...............................................................
I understand it so much more than I did two years ago, and God changes my life for the better every time He breaks me, but it never gets any less painful to go through. The more hopelessly broken we are, the more glory God gets when we are made whole again. "And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible." Mark 10:27
